new smiles welcome

“A smile is the universal welcome.” – Max Eastman

Smiling is a universal sign of happiness. The main reason for that is because studies have shown that when a person is smiling, it affects specific muscles that can make that person feel happy. When you use these specific muscles, your brain will release endorphins, which are brain chemicals that will induce feelings of pleasure and euphoria. Smiling does have the ability to make you happier!

There is always the right time for a Bachmannsmile.

 New patients are welcome.

There’s only one way to your perfect smile.

Since, 14th May 2020, is a ONE WAY entry and exit system to the building, 51 Corinthian Drive and also to our practice in place. The entry door will be on the roadside of the building, and the exit door will be on the car park side.

We are ready to re-open on 🙂 We will contact you all individually, to organise appointments. Do not call us, we will call or send an email to you. We can not see all the patients at the same time, so please be patient. We have an excellent system in place to know exactly when your last appointment was and what the next steps in your treatment plan will be. We will spread out our time-table and opening days from Monday to Friday at 7.45am – 5.45pm to make sure that Bachmann Orthodontics will be a safe environment for our patients and staff at all times. Additional security measures will be in place to minimise the risk by preventing the spread of disease. Physical distancing is an ideal precaution to prevent the spread of disease, and we will follow government advice for dental health. Everything is ready to move to Level 2. We ask that the patient waits at the door at the time of their appointment, where they will be asked a few assessment questions before entering.

It’s an advantage that we designed a huge state-of-the-art practice around the needs of our patients in Albany, North Shore. We are equipped with the newest Orthodontist technologies to create a beautiful Bachmannsmile.

Social distancing is maintained at all times. Just follow the safety lines on the floor. You won’t be coming in contact with anyone else, and everything runs in a roundabout like a clock. Of course, with the highest hygienic standards that you are used to from us.

Please note that we are accepting New Patients.

What can we do to make you smile?

Don’t gamble; getting the best smile is your choice.

Why it pays to choose a specialist orthodontist.
.
Specialist orthodontists have the knowledge, training and experience to advise on the full range of orthodontic treatment options.
.
An orthodontist is a registered dental specialist who has undertaken an additional three years of full-time postgraduate university study specialising in orthodontics.
.
An orthodontist focusses exclusively on straightening teeth, improving bite patterns and creating great smiles. Early treatment by a specialist can reduce or eliminate the need for more extensive treatment later in life.
.
A specialist orthodontist is well-equipped to diagnose what is the best treatment for your case.

Age is not a barrier to receiving corrective orthodontic treatment as healthy teeth maintain their ability to move within the jaw bone throughout a person’s life. An increasing number of adults are seeking specialist orthodontic treatment to enhance their smile, correct a bite problem and improve their self-esteem.
.
Be confident that you are in the care of a specialist by looking for the NZAO logo
All members of the New Zealand Association of Orthodontists (NZAO) are well trained. As a requirement of their ongoing professional registration, they must keep up to date with the latest trends and improvements in orthodontics.
.
You don’t need a referral to see a specialist orthodontist – call your local NZAO member like Bachmann Orthodontics and make an appointment. 09448 1128
You don’t have to gamble to get the smile you deserve.

COVID-19

We care about our Kiwis and take infection control very seriously.

We are taking additional precautions to protect your patients from COVID-19.
Our team is thoroughly trained in infection control. Our standard protocol is to disinfect each treatment room between every patient and thoroughly sterilise instruments.
And, of course, we use gloves, masks, and other protective gear all day long. We have a huge waiting area to keep the distance to each other.
We closed our Kids Playzone Area and have also removed books and magazines for now.
As an added measure of protection, we are wiping down waiting rooms on an hourly basis.
We continue to follow the situation closely and are abiding by all recommendations made by the Ministry of Health and the Dental Council.
Your safety is our top priority.
.
We have installed a Patient pre-screening before arrival at the practice for all appointments by phone:

1. Are you or anyone coming with you to your appointment feeling unwell?

2. Have you, anyone coming with you to your appointment or anyone in your household returned from overseas in the past 14 days?

3. Have you been in contact with a person with confirmed or suspicion of exposure to COVID-19 in the last 14-days

If the answer is YES to any of these questions, then any non-urgent treatment should be rescheduled until the person is well and/or the isolation period is completed. If the answer is ‘no’, then a routine
appointment may proceed

A. We ask that when you arrive for your appointment, you use the hand sanitiser that is available in the waiting room.
.
B. We ask that only the patient being treated attends the clinic. If the patient is under 16, one parent/guardian is allowed to accompany the patient. At this time, we ask siblings, friends and other family members to remain outside or to wait in your car.
.
C. If you are feeling unwell, have a cough, fever or other cold/flu symptoms, we ask that you reschedule your appointment.
.

Are we running out of masks?

Facemasks are strictly limited at the moment, and it isn’t straightforward to get the number of masks we are usually using. However, we are prepared and have always enough in stock.

If you are wearing a mask, please keep in mind the following.

  • If you are healthy, you only need to wear a mask if you are taking care of a person with suspected 2019-nCoV infection.
  • Wear a mask if you are coughing or sneezing.
  • Masks are effective only when used in combination with frequent hand-cleaning with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
  • If you wear a mask, then you must know how to use it and dispose of it properly.

4th industrial revolution

Welcome to the 4th industrial revolution.

Enjoy the scan.
To make an intraoral impression is now more accurate, faster and convenient than ever before. All data is safely stored, and retainers and impressions can be replicated our new 3D printer without making a new model. No more gooey stuff in your mouth, no more gagging! That awesome, isn’t it?
We do everything to be the state-of-the-art orthodontic practice around Auckland.
.
What can we do to make you smile?

We can detect smiles from far away.

Humans can detect smiles from more than 300 feet away, which developed out of a need to be able to distinguish friend from foe.

Keep your distance and smile.
The WHO World Health Organisation advises keeping a distance of at least two meters distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
Wash your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.
.
Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.
.
Practice respiratory hygiene.
Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately.
.
If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early.
Stay home if you feel unwell. Follow the directions of your local health authority.
.
We want to see our patient healthy.

Why see a specialist orthodontist?

Why is it important to see a specialist orthodontist when it comes to tooth movement?

You may have seen the advertisements from do-it-yourself online companies during your online search for braces.

They lure you with clever marketing and promise unnaturally rapid tooth movement in 6 months or less.

Why choose a specialist orthodontist?

All orthodontists are qualified dentists and take an additional 3 years of specialist study and practical training to become a specialist orthodontist.

That is why we can guarantee the result of our work.

Your smile is a big deal and not a cheap DIY set.

It pays to find out who is straightening your teeth.

Make sure you are seeing a specialist orthodontist, who you can find on the NZAO website: https://www.orthodontists.org.nz/about-us/our-members.

What can we do to make you smile?

You don’t need a Smile-Brush for your daily routine.

1. Brush Your Teeth
You have been told to brush your teeth, twice a day every day since you were a kid and for a good reason. Brush your teeth for 3 minutes after every meal to ensure excellent oral health.

2. Floss Everyday
It is impossible to reach the tight spaces between your teeth and under the gumline with a toothbrush. That’s why Albany orthodontists, Dr Lutz and Claudia Bachmann, place an emphasis on the importance of flossing every day. They also advise that the best time to floss your teeth is before bedtime.

3. Avoid Sugary Drinks and Lollies
Sugar processed by oral bacteria produce acids which lead to tooth decay. Our orthodontic specialists at Bachmann Orthodontics suggest avoiding sugary drinks, candies and lollies to make sure you don’t cause painful cavities and tooth decay.

4. Avoid Bad Oral Health Habits
To ensure that your smile remains beautiful you must avoid all bad oral health habits such as smoking, tongue piercing and excessive consumption of alcohol.

5. See Your Dentist Regularly
Take time out to see your dentist at least twice a year to maintain your oral health.

Speed up your new smile

Do you get the speed you want to achieve for your new smile?
If you want to straighten your teeth but don’t want to wear braces for the typical up to three years, short-term orthodontics can give you the smile you wish to achieve, quicker – if it’s compatible with your need. One option of “short-term” braces are Speed Braces®.
.
Self-Ligating Braces
.
The “Speed” approach is a trademarked term. It uses self-ligating braces, which are different from traditional braces. Usually, Orthodontist uses three main components to move your teeth into their ideal position: The bracket, which is placed on each tooth; the archwire, which runs through each bracket and places pressure on the teeth; and a tie, usually made from elastic that connects the archwire to the bracket.
.
Self-ligating braces don’t use ties. Instead, a permanently installed, the clip holds the archwire in place. Not using ties reduces the resistance of friction between the bracket and the wire, letting your teeth move more freely and using less applied force.
Speed Braces are available in metal (stainless steel), other clip brackets in cosmetic porcelain.
But to be honest, it always depends on the individual case and treatment how fast you get your perfect Bachmannsmile©.
Give Candice a call: 09448 1128 and ask for “Speed-Braces.”

Custom Fitted Mouthguards

Bachmann Orthodontists in Auckland is offering an Easter special:

Custom fitted mouthguards now only $48.50
(regular price $230). Limited time only until 10th May 2019

Why do you need a custom fitted mouthguard from Bachmann Orthodontics?

Playing contact sports without a mouth guard has been likened to rally driving without a seat belt! A simple injury can leave you with a gap in your smile. A mouthguard is a protective device that prevents injury to the teeth, lips and gums.

But not all mouthguards are created equal, and a store bought mouthguard will never give you the protection of a custom designed mouthguard.

Why is a custom mouth guard necessary?

Store bought mouthguards don’t encase the teeth or cover the back molars. They tend not to fit very well, lose their shape, fall out in the middle of activity, and often have to be replaced. They can also make breathing and talking difficult, and feel bulky in the mouth.

A properly fitted mouthguard is especially important for people who wear braces or have fixed bridge work. A blow to the face could damage the brackets or other fixed orthodontic equipment. A mouthguard also provides a barrier between the braces and your cheek or lips, limiting the risk of soft tissue injuries.

Bachmann Orthodontics in Auckland create the perfect fitting mouthguard that allows for speaking and doesn’t limit breathing. Our custom made mouthguards will stay firmly in place during action and help protect your teeth from injury.

If you or your child play contact sport, make a custom fitted mouthguard part of your team uniform.

Got help from a specialist?

Got help from a specialist?

When it comes to your personal health, you want to make sure that you’ll get the best professional help.
When it comes to achieving the perfect smile, you want to make sure you’re in good hands. What is the difference between a dentist with special interests and a specialist orthodontist? While dentists and orthodontists have a lot in common, specialisation is what sets an orthodontist apart.
What is an orthodontist?
Think of it like the difference between your family GP and a specialist physician such as a cardiologist or a paediatrician. Your family’s general dentist will be able to help you to improve your overall oral health, but a specialist orthodontist is the only properly qualified person to diagnose, prevent and treat dental or facial irregularities, and correctly align your teeth, bite and jaws.
As well as completing a five-year degree in dentistry, an orthodontist also undergoes a further 5,000 hours of specialist training in the field of orthodontics. Whether you or your child are being treated with braces or clear aligners such as Invisalign®, you need to be sure you’re being treated by an orthodontist to get the best results.
That is why we can guarantee the result of our work.
Your beautiful customised Bachmannsmile.

Straight Talk About Incognito Braces

Many people think that braces are just for teens; however a growing number of adults are deciding to brace themselves and go straight.

Dr Claudia Bachmann MDS, PhD is an orthodontist who, together with husband Dr Lutz Bachmann MDS PhD, head up Bachmann Orthodontics. This busy Auckland orthodontic practice in Albany on the North Shore state-of-the-art and offers the best of orthodontic technology and equipment available.

Dr Lutz and Dr Claudia are also the parents of three pre-teens and know first-hand the importance of straight teeth and good oral health – and they’re both passionate about creating beautiful, healthy smiles for people of all ages.

“Orthodontic treatment in later life can dramatically improve a person’s appearance ann self-esteem, and equally importantly, improve the health of their teeth and gums.”

Aesthetically, braces have come a long wayIncognito Braces and Bachmann Orthodontics is one of Auckland’s leading providers of the popular Incognito braces (lingual braces), a new orthodontic treatment where the braces are bonded to the inside of the teeth. In most cases adults can expect to wear Incognito braces for an average of 12 to 20 months.

So how much will adult braces cost?

Says Dr Claudia,

“This varies depending on individual requirements. We need to assess each client before we can decide on the course of treatment. The good news is that we offer flexible payment and finance options.”

Bachmann Orthodontics understands the value of a great smile.

“It’s very rewarding to see how straight healthy teeth can boost a patient’s confidence, self-esteem and attitude. A beautiful smile is a major asset and your most important accessory!” says Dr Claudia with a smile.
