Dental Insurance

While Bachmann Orthodontics do not offer dental insurance we wanted to discuss it briefly for those interested in the topic as we do get asked about it a lot in practice. As a general rule, no health or dental insurance plan in NZ covers orthodontics or cosmetic dentistry that we are aware of.

This means that unless your broker can arrange a special policy or inclusion for you, you will need to pay for orthodontics out of your own pocket. Since most orthodontic treatment programs can run in the $5-10k range, this is a serious consideration for you or your family.

Alternatives to Dental Insurance

Though insurance will likely not cover your treatment program with us, you still have a few options to make orthodontics more affordable for you and your family. For many, paying via credit card and then spreading out the repayments is a good alternative. However, due to the high interest rates of most credit cards, this may not be a viable option.

We also offer a finance plan and do not charge interest for payments made monthly. This is an ideal option for many  of our patients as it negates the need for a large up front payment to start treatment. We also offer a discount for full up front payment as well, depending on what suits you best.

Another option is to potentially reach out to a family member that may be able to extend a loan to you interest free, allowing you to pay the full treatment amount up front, giving you the best of both world’s – a treatment program discount and no interest on the amount paid.

You might be surprised how family members will respond in this scenario if they understand the benefits to you or your child of having your teeth aligned. A beautiful smile can enhance your job opportunities, provide confidence and change the way society reacts and responds to you in daily life. For some the difference is significant.
